Department of Defense Electronic Mall (DoD Emall) - Overview

TRAINING DESCRIPTION

DoD Emall training is provided by the Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS) to federal government organizations FREE of charge. This training is the best way to learn how to use the single entry point (www.emall.dla.mil) for the military and federal customer to shop for and buy off the shelf finished goods and services from government sources and the commercial marketplace, with emphasis on small business. Youll learn how to build shopping carts whether youre a shopper (identifying needs) or an orderer (can commit government funds). And, youll learn how to purchase goods or services in a myriad of ways; buying from many Emall vendors that now accept both government purchase card (GPC) and MILSTRIP requisitions for order placement and payment.

Our trainers will provide instruction on:

  • The features of the Emall Home Page
  • Demonstrate tutorials
  • Registration for a shopper and/or orderer privileges and describe their roles
  • How to access and organize account(s)
  • Discuss Service’s policy regarding the use of DoD Emall
  • Navigate Commercial Catalogs and Suppliers home pages
  • How non-registered suppliers can register with the Emall
  • Highlight Express Stores (global lists anyone can use to shop from without having to do the research)
  • Highlight Quick list (doing research up front that will save processing time for future purchases)
  • Demonstrate how to build and process shopping carts
  • Demonstrate how to use Express Stores
  • Demonstrate Power Shop capabilities (researching/buying up to 200 items at one time)
  • Filter research results to narrow focus to select group of items or suppliers
  • Conduct hands on exercises for building and processing a cart from start to finish

Training is provided in either an Overview Lecture or a Hands-On class that last 2 and 4 hours respectively. The Overview Lecture class teaches the students how to access and use DoD Emall without having access to a PC in the training environment. The Hands-On class is lecture as well as practical application exercises on the PCs available in the training environment. The hands-on includes using available PCs to research for goods and services, filtering responses, building and sending (for review or approval) shopping carts, building Quick Lists, viewing pending order/orders placed, checking out, and submitting material receipt acknowledgements. This course is relevant to all military and federal employees that will identify goods and services needed as well as those that are authorized to expend government funds. You can request training on-line.
