Responses

Query responses are transmitted from the server, that can be viewed on the client's computer during the communications session. Response data is use-or-lose, in that once the data is displayed on the screen, the user must copy data from screen and save into a text file, or the data will be lost once the user goes to another screen. Responses to queries may vary in time depending on several conditions. A particular database may be unavailable to the server on occasions, or there may be hundreds or thousands of queries to be processed against a particular database. Generally, responses to queries are available within an hour or less. On occasions, some responses to queries will be available within five minutes. Responses are returned in multiple files, separated by database name. When a large number of queries have been sent to the server, the responses will become available in batches. This procedure of breaking down batches of queries ensures each client receives responses in a timely manner.

Processing Responses

The WebLINK Response page provides a File(s) and Database Column. To let you know that responses have been received and parsed into individual directories, the number of response files will be listed in the File(s) column. This parsing occurs when you select Responses or Update Responses. A dash (-) indicates that there are no files for that particular database. The number will remain on the screen and decrease as query responses are read. When all responses have been read/reviewed, a dash (-) will appear on the screen to indicate that there are no additional response files to be read.
